Sarcopenia

European physicians involved in sarcopenia

Leader: Jürgen Bauer Francesco Landi

Objectives

  • To promote research in all aspects of sarcopenia.
  • To explore ways to standardize research and clinical practices in sarcopenia.
  • To bridge the gap between science and daily practice with a focus on appropriate functional outcomes.
  • To raise awareness of the concept of sarcopenia and its management to other health care providers, decision makers and general public.
  • To engage with other societies of groups interested in sarcopenia.

Outcomes 2017

  • International Registry on Sarcopenia in Clinical Practice
  • Validation of SARC-F screening questionnaire in many different European languages
  • Support to the validation of the SarQOL questionnaire, a QoL instrument specific for sarcopenic patients

Projects & Events 2017, 2018

  • Symposium at the 2017 EUGMS Congress in Nice presenting research in SARC-F, ultrasounds, prediction of outcomes.
  • Extension of the Registry to be used by HCP of all continents.
  • 2018 activities will be agreed at the next group meeting.
