6th Conference of Polish Geriatricians

Dear Colleagues,

The 6th Conference of Polish Geriatricians – 6th Meeting of the Heads of Geriatric Departments, organised a as pre-congress meeting of the 15th EuGMS congress took place in the always attractive and hospitable city Krakow on 8–9 March 2019. The meeting was endorsed by the EuGMS. In my capacity of the Academic Director I attended the meeting and took part in the program as the key note speaker with the lecture ‘Deprescribing a tool against polypharmacy’.

The meeting consisted of 6 scientific sessions (see here the link to the scientific programme). Approximately 300 participants (geriatricians, internists and general practitioners) attended the meeting.  Among them, the members of the organising committee of this year’s EuGMS congress including Professors T. Grodzicki, J. Gasowski, K. Piotrowicz, T. Kostka, K. Szczerbinska and B. Gryglewska were prominently present.

All the presentations were of an outstanding quality and provided recent evidence-based information with regard to related topics. Proceedings in Polish are gathered in nicely and compactly prepared abstract book.

The high scientific level of the presentations and vivid interactive discussions definitely confirmed that geriatrics, as well-developed and distinct speciality, is clearly present in Poland and is there definitely to stay.

The organisation of the meeting was excellent and the hospitality of the hosts warm and cordial. There is no doubt that Kraków is in every sense prepared to host the 15th EuGMS congress in an impeccable way that opens new perspectives for our society both scientifically and strategically.
